Gosling Scores Two, Including OT Game-Winner, to Lead Saints Over Clarkson

Julia Gosling scored her second goal of the game 45 seconds into overtime to lift the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team to a 4-3 win over ninth-ranked Clarkson in an ECAC Hockey contest at Cheel Arena on Friday night.

Gosling scored the game-winner on her own rebound, sliding the puck past Clarkson goaltender Michelle Pasiechnyk as she was falling to the ice, and was immediately mobbed by her teammates behind the Clarkson net.

Gabi Jones and Melissa Jefferies scored their first career goals in the win for the Saints, their first at Cheel in almost exactly 11 years. The last time St. Lawrence defeated the Golden Knights on their home ice was February 27, 2010.

Gosling's first goal gave the Saints a 3-1 lead just 40 seconds into the third period, but Clarkson came back to tie the score on goals by Nicole Gosling, Julia's cousin, and Gabrielle David to force the overtime period.

"We are sure anyone who was watching got their ESPN+ subscription's worth today," said Saints' assistant coach Mare MacDougall Bari. "A lot of credit to Clarkson for playing so well and certainly we are very proud of our team for their effort."
