AUDA AND GERAMIPOOR TO COMPETE AT 2019 FIBA WORLD CUP


South Orange, N.J. - Former Seton Hall men's basketball centers Patrik Auda '13 and Aaron Geramipoor '14 will be competing in the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup, which takes place August 31 to September 15 in China. Auda was selected to the Czech Republic National team, and Geramipoor was picked for the Iranian National team. Both former Pirates are enjoying successful professional career overseas after playing for head coach Kevin Willard at The Hall from 2010-14. A total of 32 countries are participating in this year's FIBA World Cup, which will consist of a three-game group stage followed by a single-elimination bracket. Iran, placed in Group C, will begin group stage play this Saturday Aug. 31 against Puerto Rico and will then face Tunisia on Monday, Sept. 2 and Spain on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The Czech Republic is in Group E and will take on the United States on Sunday, Sept. 1, Japan on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Turkey on Thursday, Sept. 5. All games will be streamed on ESPN+. Auda, a four-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic team, appeared in 90 career games for Seton Hall. He has gone on to a very successful professional career in Europe, most recently competing for Boulazac Basket Dordogne of the French LNB Pro A. Auda After appearing in 92 games for Seton Hall in his four-year career, Geramipoor has played professionally every year since, most recently for KK Cibona in the Croatian A-1 Liga. Both Auda and Geramipoor were members of Willard's first postseason team at Seton Hall, the 2011-12 squad that had the top seed in the NIT.
