FIELD HOCKEY RANKED 20TH IN FINAL NFHCA COACHES POLL

GILBERT, AZ – In the final Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Coaches Poll of the season, the Monmouth University field hockey team held its spot at No. 20 for the second week in a row, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon. The Hawks, who were ranked for seven weeks this season, dramatically defeated Cal in the America East Semifinals, before falling to No. 17 Stanford in the championship. Trailing by a goal with under three minutes remaining in regulation, Meg de Lange (Johannesburg, South Africa / St. Mary's Waverley) scored the tying goal before Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) put in the game-winner with 50 seconds to go to stun the Golden Bears. The Hawks evened the finals against the Cardinal early in the second half, but Stanford hammered in a deflected ball with 1:56 left in the fourth quarter to snap the Hawks' nine-game winning streak.
