Men's Soccer to Face Hobart in NCAA First Round

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's soccer team will head to Franklin and Marshall College for the First and Second Rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship after the announcement of the 64-team field was made in a live selection show on Monday. The Red Hawks (16-4-1) will take on Hobart College (14-4-2) in the first round on Saturday, November 16, at Tylus Field in Lancaster, PA, at 3:30 p.m. The host Diplomats (16-3-0) will face Penn State University-Harrisburg (15-5-1) in the other first-round contests beginning at 1 p.m. The winners meet in the second round on Sunday for a berth in the Sectional Tournament on November 23-24 at 3 p.m. The Red Hawks never faced any of the three teams in their pod previously. Montclair is making its 18th overall appearance in the Division III Tournament and 13th in the last 14 seasons. MSU made three trips to the College Division Tournament in 1968, 1969, and 1972. Montclair State is 22-20-1 overall in those previous 21 appearances, including a 20-17-1 mark in its Division III berths. That record includes a trip to the Final Four in 2011 and Elite 8 berths in 2007, 2012, 2013, and 2018. The Red Hawks earned their way into the NCAAs after capturing its 13th New Jersey Athletic Conference championship and fourth in six years with a 1-0 win over Rowan at home last Saturday evening. Rookie OSCAR SANCHEZ scored in the 89th minute to give MSU the victory.
