Women's Soccer's Offense is Awakened Against Mercyhurst

(Herkimer, NY) On Sunday, the Nassau Women's Soccer team went head to head with the Mercyhurst NE Saints. In the first five minutes of the first half, Mercyhurst found the back of the net to put the Lions behind by 1. It didn't take long for that goal to spark Nassau's drive as they dominated the rest of the half. The Lions struck back scoring 3 goals to give them a definitive lead going into the second half. Nassau only got more passionate as the game went on. Every time the Saints would press, the Lions would come back stronger. They scored 3 more goals to bury the win 6-3. Goalie Eolyn Carbajal was strong in the net for her second appearance of the season. Shonagh Cleary lead the team in goals with 4, while Erika Lilli and Amirah Campbell also contributed goals. Head Coach Chris Megaloudis commented, "I think this game just goes to show how united our team can be even after just one game together. They hustled to snag every loose ball and put in the extra effort. On top of that our defense really made a big impact by stopping a lot of big moments for the Saints. It was definitely an all team win." Next up, the Lions will head to Massachusetts on Friday to compete against Holyoke Community College.
